Superior Summer Sandals
Every pair of shoes in my closet has a time attached to them - 2 hour, 4 hour, 24 hour. You know this phenomonen well, I’m sure. There’s also the location aspect. I have cute shoes that are great all day when I’m in and out of the car, whereas the same shoes put me into traction if I’m in and out of the Metro in them. My life has been more transit oriented of late and I’ve been looking for shoes that can, if I may, walk the walk, in cuteness and practicality.
I just ordered these Kenneth Cole Reaction Cedar-ful from Amazon and I think that they will fit the bill for summer.
Wedge - cute and comfortable.
Patent - because I like the shiny.
Straps - because the flappy flip-flop doesn’t work for me when I’m running for a bus or down some stairs or even slapping down the hall.
Reaction - because the brand usually fits me well and is of reasonably good quality.
Additionally, they have received steller reviews in my totally non-scientific online survey.
Finally? they just got marked down to $21. I got red and black.

Shake Your Boogie
Finally!!!
I heard this jazzy, dancey little tune late one night on Nocturna and before it was over, I was checking out “Now Playing” to find out who had made this enchanting bit of music. It was Mocean Worker and it was “Shake Yor Boogie” and the album wasn’t out until the end of June. So, today.
Now go and listen to the song and I dare you not to get it stuck in your head.

Fabulousness
I’m a big fan of the swing music from way back, so it will surprise absolutely no one that I’m a big fan of The Puppini Sisters “Betcha Bottom Dollar”.
NPR (that hidden bastion of hippness) is all over them, here and KCRW made I Will Survive one of Today’s Top Tunes and I was busy hitting repeat on my iPod while heading out to pick up the entire album. I’ve given it as gifts to three different people. Hooray for happy summertime music.

No, No, No
The buzz on Amy Winehouse hit before actually I’d seen or heard anything from her.
Great voice, soul, catchy, retro.
These are words gueranteed to catch my attention and then I began to hear what a train wreck of a person she was, which sort of soured me, still, mind you, without actually hearing her and then “Rehab” became this hit and by the time I finally heard it as background in some coffeeshop somewhere, I was predisposed to disinterest.
Meh. Another overhyped Brit.
But then a friend threw the Jay-Z remix on a playlist for me and it caught. I got some free iTunes songs when I bought Hollywood Bowl tickets (which is still SO not enough to make things straight between us, Ticketmaster!!!) and so I got the original version (’cause, free! didn’t count!).
Which was great. And so were the next three songs that I heard, so, now, well, Viva Amy!!! Get down with your bad self.

she who hesitates …
is me and woe betide me! I saw a girl wearing these fabulous eggplant patent leather shoes, went home and tracked them down through Zappos. They had a name - Max Studio Dolly - and they were fairly expensive. I decided to wait until they went on sale.
(you can see how this turned out)
stopped by Macy’s tonight - they have the black and the bone, no eggplant. Checked Zappos - same story. Piperlime, Endless, the online Max Studio store, all the same story. and while the bone is nice for spring and the black patent (which I have a well-documented love for anyway) looks like shiny jellybeans, I really had my heart set on the other.

to listen
This is Sybarite, which sounds similiar, to and in fact, collaborates with, Psapp, and if neither of those mean anything to you, let me add that Psapp did the Grey’s Anatomy theme song, Cozy in the Rocket, so if you’ve ever wanted to listen to it over and over or to hear variations on the theme, you’ll probably like either one of these bands.
