Inspiration

Adoxography LOVES LOVES LOVES
A Dress A Day.

Yes, I realize that I’m using the third person and that is really really really annoying (much like the useless repetition of words), but I’m trying to EMPHASIZE how very cool this site is and I need you to UNDERSTAND (I know, the capital letters are right up there with the third person and the repition).

Anyway.

You have to give major props to a person who:

1. Blogs damn near every day. I try. I fail a lot. She’s doing well.
2. Blogs about beautiful dresses. Points for content.
3. Manages to be really re(sorry) funny while doing it. Humor, much like neatness, counts, people, and actually, humor continues to count after you graduate from high school.

Today is Erin day. This link doesn’t take you to entries that are especially better than others, but it seemed like a good starting point. If you’re smart, you’ll delve into the archives, too.

Methadone

Into every generation, a Slayer is born. One girl in all the world, a Chosen One, one with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires, to stop the spread of their evil ways, to cease their destructive manners, to prevent the end of the world. When one Slayer dies, the next one is called.

And this works pretty well when Buffy ends and you still have Angel, but once that’s off the air (especially if you fail to appreciate, um, watch, Firefly until it’s already been cancelled) then all you have are the DVD’s.

Unless you know about the Barbverse.

First - I don’t read fanfiction. I spent time laughing at people who did and harder at those who wrote it. OK, I’ll also go on record that I laughed at the BTVS fans too, so apparently, I need to shut up a whole lot sooner. All defenses aside. This is important. In fact, it almost defies belief.

Barb Cummings writes Buffy fanfiction. She writes really GOOD Buffy fanfic with believable characters and a plot line that is rich and multifaceted and intense. She’s written two novels and is at work on the third with a whole host of short stories between.

If you liked the show and you’re jonesing, this is your new crack. Oxycontin. Whatever. Today, she finished the latest short story and I’m revelling. You, however, will be jumping into the middle and so should immediately head for A Raising in the Sun and not expect to see daylight (or work or friends or family) until you’re through.
