LuckyScent is the Devil

and I blissfully do its bidding, even buying a sample of something that uses the word “cow” in the description … I’m hoping that the ” hay, grass, earth, herbs (and we detect a subtle wildflower note)” makes up for it!

I Love I Hate Perfumes

because they rock.

I noticed the site because of the name - clever marketing, haha - and was intrigued by the names:

Burning Leaves - The smoke of burning maple leaves

In the Library - English Novel taken from a Signed First Edition of one of my very favorite novels, Russian & Moroccan leather bindings, worn cloth and a hint of wood polish.

Russian Caravan Tea - Smoked black Indian tea, bergamot and the hint of shelves full of old books.

and I’m always on the hunt for a really perfect rose … wonderful stuff and the samples are only $3 …

The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things

Sometimes, the name is all it takes. The fragrance notes aren’t at all my usual style, but now, I want to try this perfume

Bay rum, massoia, vanilla, earth, fig

YOSH created this scent for her friend, JT LeRoy, author of The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things. Based on a tale of a tangled, tragic childhood and the aching search for love, YOSH intended this fragrance to be warm and nurturing, a velvety hug in the face of despair and darkness. The scent itself is lyrical and compassionate, with the golden/rich/moist note of massoia bark, earth and fig unfolding a sensual bed of depth and unmistakable danger. The soothing sweetness of vanilla rises up from the shadows and weaves throughout, rebelling against the dark and playing a beautiful tug-of-war on your senses. Despair and blackness, anger and absolution, this is a rebel fragrance that will tug on your soul.

Fun, right?

Keiko Mecheri Loukhoum

I picked out this fragrance while choosing some samples from LuckyScent:

A deliriously sweet and addictive fragrance inspired by the Turkish delicacy rahat loukhoum– a confection of rose petal jam, noor dates and white almonds. Luxurious and dreamy, conjuring up visions of flying carpets, rose-colored clouds and opulent palaces. Rich vanilla and precious woods ease into a soft, powdery drydown that is hypnotically soothing. Warning: this fragrance is habit-forming.

Blah blah blah. Perfume-speak is generally fairly worthless and the above is no exception. I did like the sound of the ingredients - hawthorn blossom, bulgarian rose absolute, precious woods, vanilla, Comores flowers, white almond, musk - and thought it would surely be worth $3 to try it out.

Received it and Wow! I was totally hooked and today, I broke down and ordered a bottle.

It should be worthwhile - I’m almost through my sample, having worn it for two weeks straight where I’m constantly sneaking sniffs of my wrist when no one is looking and reapplying it before bed so I can drift off smelling it.

The official website is pretty, but fairly worthless in terms of information about the perfume or the maker. As usual, the blogs come to the rescue and Now Smell This provides some good history on the perfumier.
